Krisztina

Here is a little diversion that many of you will understand …

For a number of years “The Flats” have enjoyed travelling. FlatMary and FlatKathy have toured New Zealand, Belgium, France and the UK. They loved visiting Mary’s relatives in the United States, and particularly enjoyed the Thames Path in 2006 and have been seen at a number of other memorable occasions closer to home. Sadly, they were a little reluctant to come with me on this trip - maybe Mary’s cruise was more appealing - and by the time I was in Budapest I was missing their flat company.

It was while I was thinking of all they were missing out on, that Krisztina called out. She wanted adventure, wouldn’t be any trouble and could fit easily into my pocket if necessary. She was very persuasive and I agreed!

Although she is Hungarian through and through, she gleefully embraces many cultures and has proved a cheerful travelling companion.

Krisztina was very keen to show me some of her favourite places in her native Budapest and here she is by a model of the church of St. Mathias …

And then on the wall of Fisherman’s Bastion with her beloved city in the background.

She embraced country life in Hajdu …

and was happy to give a hand measuring at the build …

she was quite taken with all those rebar squares …

But was a little confused as to what could be found in the middle of the roads.

She loved the visit to Debrecen …

And appreciated the ’bird’s-eye view’ from John’s backpack

And the yummy looking cakes…

John’s birthday chocolates also proved tempting as she has quite a sweet tooth!

She really is great company, very photogenic and makes friends easily. John is also quite taken with her engaging smile and readiness to take on any challenge - and she isn’t afraid of heights!
